The 22-year-old was tracked by the Gunners while he was at Schalke, but he ended up moving to Wolfsburg last summer.

Now, after just 12 months at the Bundesliga club, Draxler has told bosses he wants to find a new club.Arsenal are expected to face tough competition from Juventus for his signature though. The Italian champions had a bid for the player turned down by Schalke last summer and are still keen to sign him.

Any move for Draxler would not be cheap, with the player valued at around £55million and with four years still left on his contract.

But he told German newspaper Bild: “I have expressed myself clearly after the Euros, with [Wolfsburg manager] Dieter Hecking, that I want to leave Wolfsburg. The coach knows for more than three weeks.
"Two days after the semi-final at the European Championships I told him how I see the whole situation and what I want – which is to leave the club."
Only last month Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs insisted Draxler would "100 per cent" be staying at the club .
