Chelsea have confirmed that new signing N'Golo Kante will wear the No.7 shirt next season.
The defensive midfielder takes up the squad number Ramires vacated in January following his move to Jiangsu Suning.
In the Premier League era, the likes of Adrian Mutu, loanee Maniche and Andriy Schevchenko have all donned No.7 while playing for the club.
Didier Deschamps, also a defensive midfielder during his playing days, wore the No.7 during his one season at Stamford Bridge and Kante will now occupy the same position and number as the France head coach.
Kante, who was Antonio Conte's second summer arrival after completing a £30 million move from Premier League champions Leicester City, has linked up with the rest of the squad for their pre-season tour of the US.
