OFFICIAL: Vietto loaned to Sevilla
Atletico Madrid forward Luciano Vietto has joined Sevilla on a season-long loan, with the Europa League champions having the option to conclude a permanent deal next summer.
Vietto only joined Atletico last summer from Villarreal but struggled to make an impact with the Colchoneros in 2015/16, scoring just three goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
And the 22-year-old, who had already trained with his new team-mates at their pre-season base in Germany prior to the move being completed, has now joined Sevilla on a temporary basis to get his career back on track. Barcelona were keen to sign Vietto but the striker opted to join Sevilla instead in his pursuit of regular first-team football.Kevin Gameiro - who scored 29 goals in all competitions last term including eight in the Europa League as Sevilla lifted the trophy for a third season in a row - has gone the other way, joining Atletico permanently.
Vietto is new Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli's seventh summer signing ahead of the new campaign after the earlier arrivals of Franco Vazquez, Joaquin Correa, Ganso, Hiroshi Kiyotake and Pablo Sarabia.
Matias Kranevitter also joined Sevilla this summer on a season-long loan from Atletico after similarly falling down the pecking order at the Vicente Calderon.
